The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for qualified and experienced individuals in the following position
About The Role
New Porgera Limited is seeking a dedicated and experienced
Grievance Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing grievance databases and lead initial investigations, helping to resolve issues stemming from our mining operations in Porgera. Reporting to the Supervisor – Community Grievance, you will be an essential part of a team committed to fostering positive relationships with the local community.
In this role, you will
- Management of the Grievance database of community issues held by Grievance section
- Undertake the collation of information on community issues raised with NPL and consult with relevant NPL departments on these issues so resolutions can be made in a timely manner
- Provide reports of community issues raised weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually as required by NPL Management and Barrick Corporate
- Any other matters requested by NPL Management relating to the management of community issues
- Monitor the [discipline] systems and business processes, identify and prioritise improvement opportunities and formulate alternatives and improvements to systems and methods
- Assist the [function Manager / Superintendent] with implementation of change management initiatives and other business improvement projects
- High level understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry in PNG
- Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with the NPL Occupational Health and Safety Policy and Environmental rules and procedures
The Ideal Candidate Must Have
- A professional background in Law, Lands and communication for development or related discipline is preferred
- Experience and/or training in Conflict Management and issues resolution
- Proven problem analysis and solving skills
- Extensive experience interacting within a culturally diverse workforce
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas
- Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, MS Office applications and Grievance Management database with an understanding of the Borealis Stakeholder Engagement system.
- Strong report writing and presentation skills
- Class 3/6 License is required but not mandatory
Mobilization Requirement
- This position is open to PNG Citizens Only
- A Fly-In Fly-Out arrangement with a rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage).
- Must have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
